The roaring polar bear is one of Royal Copenhagen's earliest decorated figures. It was originally created in 1894 by the artist Carl Frederik Liisberg.
Royal Copenhagen was proposed as a trademark of the Royal Danish Porcelain Factory in 1775 by the Dowager Queen Juliane Marie. Each piece of Royal Copenhagen porcelain is instantly recognizable by the three blue waves on its underside symbolizing the Sound, the Great Belt and the Little Belt, the three main waterways of Denmark.
