Factory founded in 1771 in the rue de la Fontaine- ou-Roi by Jean-Baptiste Locré de Roissy, originally from Leipzig. The point of sale was in the rue de Bondy. In 1784, he entered into partnership with Russinger. After the Revolution, he partnered with Pouyat de Limoges (1800). In 1810, Pouyat father and son ran the business, then the name of the company became Veuve E. Pouyat et fils. Pouyat et fils, later Pouyat frères, who adopted the title "Manufacture de S.A.R. le due de Berry". In 1820, they partnered with Lebourgeois and created a suction drying factory in Fours (Nièvre). In 1825, they changed their name to Pouyat et Davignaud. They moved to 137, rue du Tem- ple, while the premises in rue de la Fontaine- au-Roi became the property of Auguste Darte and Lemaire, formerly in rue de la Roquette. It was in Locré that Tendelle perfected his hard porcelain casting process. This is a translucent hard paste porcelain known as German porcelain. This paste is also known as Basse-Courtille. It is more clayey and more opaque than Sèvres porcelain for ordinary products, while for select products it is very white and very translucent.
