BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

Napoleon at Fontainebleau. Germany, 19th century.
Enamelled porcelain.
With seal on the base.
Measurements: 30 x 18 x 17 cm.
The sculpture presented here closely follows the aesthetic guidelines established by the Romantic painter Paul Delaroche. It is a porcelain made from "Napoleon on the eve of his first abdication, 4 April 1814", a work by Delaroche kept in the Museum of Fine Arts in Leipzig. In it, the Romantic painter recreates the dramatic moment, constructing a work determined by realism of expression and fidelity to the verisimilitude of the objects depicted.
