BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Set of two Art Deco napkin rings. France, circa 1940.
Moulded glass and metal.
Damage to the glass.
Provenance: Private Spanish collection, formed between 1970 and 1995.
Measurements: 3 x 6 cm (x2).
Lot comprising two napkin rings made of moulded glass. Both have the same globular structure, with the cylindrical body topped with fine bands of silver-plated metal. As for the ornamentation, the two pieces follow the same pattern, which is based on a set of flowers arranged in a frieze around the perimeter of the two napkin rings. The design follows the aesthetic precepts of the Art Deco style, which was inspired by organic motifs, resulting in fluid, undulating lines, as seen in these two pieces.
