Black Jack is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Osamu Tezuka in the 1970s, dealing with the medical adventures of the main character, Dr. Black Jack. Black Jack consists of hundreds of short, self-contained stories that are usually about 20 pages long. Black Jack has also been animated in an OVA, two television series (directed by Satoshi Kuwahara and Tezuka's son Makoto Tezuka) and two movies.
Eat-Man is a Japanese manga series created by Akihito Yoshitomi in 1996 that was serialized by MediaWorks until 2003. In 1997, Studio Deen adapted the manga into a 12-episode anime television series that aired in Japan from January 9 to March 27, 1997 on TV Tokyo. A sequel, Eat-Man '98, was also animated by Studio Deen and ran from October 8 to December 23, 1998. Both anime series are licensed in North America by Discotek Media and the manga series was licensed by Viz Communications prior to its release. A second manga called Eat-Man The Main Dish began serializing in Monthly Shonen Sirius in May 2014.
