DESCRIPTION

Empire clock. France, ca. 1810.
Gilt bronze.
Replaced dial.
Running.
Measures: 58 x 44 x 16,5 cm.
French table clock of Empire style and period. All of it is made in gilded bronze, with a sculptural concept typical of this period. It is a classical piece, with a base decorated with allegorical objects in bas-relief in the form of a frieze. Above it is a round figure representing the muse of agriculture, Ceres, together with a staff with a basket, a rake and a shovel. All of these elements rest on the clock case. The dial features Roman numerals in black with Breguet-type hands. The dial is framed by a garland.
