In 1895, George Parker had an idea that became the great solution to the problems of stains and excessive ink spills, and served to boost the sale of his pens. It consisted of adding a curved element in the ink conduit, on the way to the feeder, that prevented the free flow of ink, and returned the unused amount back to the reservoir. He called this new system "Lucky Curve".
Parker fountain pens have always been at the forefront of innovation and reliability. In fact, the company was founded by George Safford Parker in his drive to improve the fountain pens of the time. In addition to creating the first fast-drying ink known as Superchrome, Parker holds a long list of patents related to the fountain pen, which it has accumulated over the course of its successful history. Parker fountain pens have been used to write works such as Giacomo Puccini's La Boheme (1896) or to sign historic treaties such as the nuclear non-proliferation agreement between Reagan and Gorbachev in 1987.
