DESCRIPTION
Pair of candlesticks. Silversmith Pierre-François Agustin Turqués (active in Paris between 1844-1855).
In silver.
With hallmarks of the silversmith and export stamp on one leg.
Net weight: 4500 gr.
Measurements: 55 x 35 x 35 cm.
Pair of French four-armed candlesticks in silver punched, signed by the goldsmith Pierre-François Agustin Turqués. Although made in the nineteenth century, they boast a vehement ornamental work inspired by rococo models. In doing so, the silversmith shows a remarkable virtuosity in the embossing and textured finishes: scrolls, scrollwork, garlands and flowers completely cover the stem, the arms and the lampshades. The result is a piece full of nooks and crannies, meanders, twists and leafy corners.
