After having developed in early works figurative themes related to the war conflict and memory, the Israeli artist Yuval Shaul has been leaning in recent years towards a more abstract style, as we observe in this textured composition and telluric echoes. His intention is not merely decorative but continues to explore existential issues, but from another place. Shaul works as an alchemist who uses oil mixed with other techniques on metal, paper or wood, using diluents and extra-pictorial materials to create dynamic effects and textures. The layers, drippings and color fields interact with each other to form a painting in action or performative.

Yuval Shaul lives and works in Tel Aviv, Israel. He trained at the Avni Institute for Art Studies in his hometown and at Zvi Millstein Studio in Paris.
