The lamp of Aladdin and the cactus silhouetted in this composition are icons that appear and reappear in several works by Jordi Cano, with which the artist deployed conceptual and symbolic crossings between the world of magic, a vague idea of exoticism and the infinite paths we travel to evade reality.
Jordi Cano Cunill came into contact with the Catalan artistic avant-garde at a very young age, taking an early interest in the plastic arts as well as in theater and poetry, and joining various poetry groups. In 1979 he came into contact with the theatrical group Els Joglars, collaborating in various productions. He has participated in several solo and group exhibitions in Vic, Ripoll, Granada, Cuenca and La Coruña. His work navigates between abstraction and a peculiar figuration, of synthetic character, both in form and in the use of color, sometimes close to informalism. In this sense, his work is also interested in the drip, the scribble, the informal stroke that reveals the corporeality of the artist and chance.
