In 1972, Josep Cruañas held his first individual exhibition in Vic, and since then he has shown his work in Madrid, Girona, Palma de Mallorca, Tarragona and Sant Cugat del Vallès. He was also a member of the Passeig de Gràcia group, attached to the Comas gallery. He is known as a landscape painter, although he has also worked in portraiture and still life. He has been awarded prizes in various competitions, and in 1996 he was named member emeritus of the Real Círculo Artístico de Barcelona. He is represented in the Museum of the Diputació de Barcelona, the Museum of Bañolas, the Pinacoteca Municipal Legado Francesc Galí de Palamós and the National Museum of Bulgaria, among other public and private collections.
