In this female portrait the artist proposes a sculptural, or monumental image of a woman's body. In spite of the volumetric forms, the undulating lines have softened the portrait, a characteristic that is reinforced by the use of a vaporous and powdered brushstroke. This type of sculptural women are idiosyncratic of the artist's work, who tries to play with shapes and volume in a rounded way without losing subtlety.
María Teresa García López began her academic training at the School of Arts and Crafts in Córdoba, where she was introduced to painting and drawing. One of her great teachers was Francisco Aguilera Mate, from whom she learned to understand color and master the tempera technique. Although it is worth mentioning that one of her artistic references is Antoni Clavé, whose work strongly inspired the Cordovan artist. Throughout her artistic career she has participated in numerous collective and individual exhibitions, both nationally and internationally, highlighting places such as Connecticut in the United States and Madrid.
