In this scene of great chromatic intensity, the artist places two roosters as protagonists. These, arranged in the centre of a stage, stand out for their movement and colouring, which contrasts with the white on which they are inscribed, which serves to simulate a spotlight. This fight scene is being watched by a large crowd milling around in the stands. However, not all of them are paying attention, some are looking at the cocks, others seem to be the winners of the bets, while others are kissing passionately. It is worth noting that Cugat presents a diverse audience, where different races can be appreciated.
A cartoonist and musician, Xavier Cugat lived for a long time in the United States, where he carried out very important work as an orchestra conductor in the field of light music. Between 1925 and 1928 he collaborated as a cartoonist with the American newspaper "Los Angeles Times". He held his first solo exhibition in Barcelona in 1972, an exhibition of his famous caricatures of famous people. Since then he has held solo exhibitions both in Spain and in the United States.
