The Greco-Roman gorgon, an evil symbol, was revisited by women artists, turning that figure with a petrifying look, as an emblem of power and feminine wisdom. This work by Nani Serrano should be read along these lines. Snakes, animals condemned by the Catholic religion, were formerly venerated as a representation of enlightenment, wisdom and knowledge.
Nani Serrano began as a graphic designer and in advertising drawing, to later delve into the art of airbrushing, collage and other types of works in which she prioritizes manual work, and through which she tries to unite art and illustration. She has been included in the catalog of "Spanish Illustrators" (Ed. Lunwerg), which collects the highlights of current illustration. She has exhibited at Agora 3 gallery (Sitges, 2012); Art Window (2012); Espace Cultural Ample (2011, 2010, 2009); Desig (2008); Expo_7 (2005), La Guillotina (Valencia, 99), among others. He explores the expressive possibilities of airbrush painting, a technique he masters with virtuosity. She uses it to create a dialogue between disciplines and languages: photography, historical painting..., to reflect on female representations in art and advertising.
