DESCRIPTION

Morillo of chimney Charles X; c. 1820.
Bronze and iron.
Measurements: 26 x 105 x 85 cm.
Morillo of chimney made in gilded bronze and iron, finished off in the form of volutes of clear classic inspiration. The morillos were used to elevate the fire and to allow its oxygenation, also serving as support for pots and pans. Despite their mainly utilitarian purpose, it was common to find decorative elements on them.
The aesthetics of Charles X was defined by the taste of an incipient bourgeoisie. The style of Charles X extended from 1818 to 1834, during the Bourbon Restoration. The aesthetics adapted to softer forms, with a clear influence of the Empire style, but with a clear adaptation to smaller formats.
