Following the tradition of the Dutch school of Utrecht, Cornelius Borgsteegh specialized in bucolic lake landscapes of winter like the one that we show, of wide celajes and with the snow covering the roofs to two waters of the houses, and impertérritos strollers conversing, working or crossing the lake in small boats. Cornelius Borgsteegh was born in Ameide. Renowned as a landscape painter and draughtsman, he taught drawing in Gouda.
