The representation of painters in full artistic delight was a very recurrent theme in the 19th century. To the grace of the represented one in full creative moment was added the meticulous description of the workshop, sprinkled of all the necessary instruments for the development of the activity. In this case the young lady, entirely dressed in black, gives the final touches to a large still life of flowers. The chairs, chests of drawers and vases that decorate the room tell us of the high lineage of the young woman, for whom painting is possibly a hobby.
