Spanish school of the 18th century.

Presents some lack of polychrome.
Measurements: 26 x 20 cm; 38,5 x 32,5 cm (frame).

In this work is represented a typical iconography of the Spain of the XVIII century in which we see San Jerónimo listening to the trumpet of the Apocalypse, which -although it does not appear in this composition- is played by a young angel. The saint appears in penitence, half-naked and covered only by a red cloak, meditating in the desert with a human skull next to him and writing the Holy Scriptures. Below the table is a lion in repose, one of the main iconographic attributes of the saint, and the cardinal's capelet.
