This edition was made by Artika and Fundació Antoni Tàpies, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Sèrie Negra. The piece has 15 sheets printed on handmade paper, reproducing Tàpies' drawings created in 1967 on laid paper. Together they form the Art Book. This edition also includes a Study Book, bilingual Spanish-English, in which Tàpies' career and part of his biography are narrated by his son, Antoni Tàpies Barba, Xavier Antich, president of the Board of Trustees of the Fundació Antoni Tàpies, and the art historian Pedro de Llano. Finally, the case, created in burlap fabric, consists of two parts: a detail of one of the plates with the artist's signature and a silkscreen print of a text by Tàpies himself.
Antoni Tàpies has exhibited all over the world, in leading galleries and museums such as the Guggenheim in New York and the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. His awards include prizes such as the Prince of Asturias, the Praemium Imperiale of the Japan Art Association, the National Culture Prize, the Grand Prix de Peinture de France, etc., and anthologies have been dedicated to him in Tokyo, New York, Rome, Amsterdam, Madrid, Venice, Milan, Vienna and Brussels. He is represented in major national and international museums, such as the foundation that bears his name in Barcelona, the Reina Sofia in Madrid, the Guggenheim in Berlin, Bilbao and New York, the Fukoka Art Museum in Japan, the MoMA in New York and the Tate Gallery in London.
