Plate number 33 of the book of voyages of James Cook (Marton, England, 1728- Kealakekua Bay, Hawaii, 1779). Navigator, explorer, cartographer and captain of the British Royal Navy, Cook elaborated detailed maps of the island of Newfoundland before making three trips to the Pacific Ocean, during which he established the first contact recorded of the Europeans with the oriental coast of Australia and the islands Hawaii, as well as the first circumnavigation of New Zealand.
