ALBERTO FABRA FOIGNET (Buenos Aires, 1920-Perpignan, 2011)
Untitled.
Etching, copy 5/49.
Signed and justified by hand.

Son of a French mother and Catalan father, he spent his childhood in Girona and later moved to Barcelona in 1923. He formed the first group of post-war avant-garde painters in Catalonia with Ramon Rogent i Perés and the brothers J. Fín and Javier Vilató (nephews of the artist Pablo Picasso), with whom he went to Paris (France) at the end of World War II, thanks to a scholarship from the French Institute.
In Paris, Fabra settled in the studio of sculptor Pablo Gargallo, which had been given to him by the artist's widow, becoming fully integrated into Parisian artistic life. Over the years, he abandoned his post-cubist phase, leaving behind the style he had in common with Fín and Vilató, and moved his workshop to the Belleville district of Paris, where he lived for more than 20 years. In 1985, he left Paris and settled in Perpignan and Puerto de la Selva.
