Fernando Almela together with Alberto Solsona formed one of the most active artistic couples of the Spanish transition, and between 1972 and 1977 they made most of their work together. Almela had a language based on color and form, with a Cézannian heritage, influenced by Morandi, Matisse, Sorolla and Gerardo Rueda. Solsona, on the other hand, reflected the influence of pop-art, combining it with surrealism. Both are currently represented in important collections, although the Almela-Solsona Foundation, founded by the former in 1991, is the institution that holds the largest number of works by both.
