Painter, engraver, lithographer, teacher and researcher, Albert Gonzalo claims to live in symbiosis with his work. Since his beginnings he has been fascinated by the East, always his source of inspiration. He first became interested in Sufi philosophy, which opened the door to Islamic thought. In his readings and travels, he undertook a journey through the religions and cultures of the East, from India to Japan, passing through China; from Zen Buddhism to Taoism, without forgetting his classical Mediterranean roots. Within this dynamic, Gonzalo has shown his work in Asian contemporary art museums, and has taken part in several group exhibitions in Japan, Taiwan and South Korea. Also, in 2005 he had a solo exhibition at the Nagoya University of Arts (Japan). His paintings are the plastic expression of the link he has established between all the thoughts and all the images of oriental cultures that he has been processing throughout his life, uniting everything that fascinates him. For him, painting is a reflection that takes a certain form, disinterested in plastic art.
