DESCRIPTION
Elizabethan mirror; Spain, third quarter of the nineteenth century.
Carved and gilded wood.
Measurements: 48 x 36 x 6 cm.
Spanish mirror of Elizabethan period, gilded and molded in relief with delicate vegetal scrolls, palmettes and small ornaments of great naturalism, which are superimposed in an illusionistic way on the structure, enhanced by the openwork background, composing the lower skirt and the upper rim. It is an oval mirror in a vertical position, whose horizontal axis is visually reinforced by the presence of these decorative motifs. The frame itself is classicist, with stepped moldings on which are superimposed delicate bouquets of vegetal motifs.
