DESCRIPTION

19th century Masonic dagger.
Bronze and steel.
Measurements: 50 cm.

Masonic dagger with a serpentine edge and the hilt in the shape of a skull. The skull becomes in the Masonic world one of the most representative symbols, symbolizing the death of the senses that can enslave the human being, preventing and hindering his spiritual evolution. Freemasonry is born from the ancient medieval builders of cathedrals and sacred buildings and sometimes drinks from the very art of the stonemasons.

For Freemasons, the skull is the throne of the vital force of the body and spirit, which is why - as in many other cultures - they seek to preserve the skulls of the deceased, which will provide the same power that their holders had during their lifetime.
