Fan that presents a country adorned with a figurative scene of great technical quality. The artist collects a costumbrista image close in thematic and aesthetic to the gallant ones that were so popular during the 19th century. In a wide landscape the author develops a scene of the taste of the time, where a large garden is represented, enjoyed by several characters.
During the eighteenth and early nineteenth century, social gatherings in public events were the appropriate context for the ladies to show their new fashion acquisitions, of which the fans were the perfect complement. These became very important not only because of their usefulness, but also because the ladies developed a whole language around the use and arrangement of the fan.
