DESCRIPTION

Central Europe; first third of the 19th century.
Birch wood.
It presents restorations and damages caused by xylophagous.
Measurements: 74 x 77 x 51 cm.
Table of simple but refined design, reflecting the sobriety and balance typical of the furniture of the time, possibly inspired by the neoclassical style that still influenced the decorative taste of those years.
The top board, with straight lines and slightly rounded corners, shows a smooth and well-worked surface, highlighting the natural beauty of the wood. The soft and warm grain gives a cozy and serene air, characteristic of the hardwoods used in quality furniture.
Just below, a central drawer perfectly integrated into the front of the table reveals a small, discreet but functional key hole that adds a touch of utility to this piece without detracting from its elegance. This detail suggests that the table was conceived not only as a decorative element, but also as a practical piece of furniture for storing personal items or important documents.
The tall, slender legs curve slightly outward, giving it a light, streamlined look. This feature, known as saber-shaped legs, was highly appreciated in early 19th century furniture, as it gave the pieces an elegant and balanced appearance without sacrificing stability.
