DESCRIPTION
Large 60-light ceiling chandelier. France, ca. 1940.
Bronze.
Electrified. In case it is necessary to disassemble it for transport, it must be re-electrified.
Measurements: 200 x 200 cm.
Great and extraordinary ceiling lamp of 60 lights that combines gilded and silvered bronze, developing in markedly curved arms finely embossed with a profusion of foliage, floral bouquets of beautiful corollas and tulips seated in foliated sheaths. The delicacy of the bronze work is evident in every detail of the decoration, especially in the putti heads that embellish part of the structure, as well as in the evocative female figures that decorate the upper third of the lamp. This type of lamp derives from the great luminous crowns of medieval churches, which would become more and more ornate in the 15th and 16th centuries, until finally reaching their present lavish form in the 18th century.
