DESCRIPTION
Neoclassical chandelier. Northern Europe, ca. 1800.
Crystal and gilt bronze. Blue cut crystal bowl.
Six lights.
Measurements: 120 x 80 x 80 cm.
Neoclassical ceiling lamp with a gilt bronze structure practically hidden by the crystal pendants and teardrops. This design in colorless glass, showing different types of carving, multiplies with its facets the brightness of the light, giving the lamp a light and sumptuous appearance. A hidden triple ring orders the structure, from the upper part from which the strings of glass cascade, turning from the second ring (ornamented with representations of corals and masks) to the lower crown, from which they fall like stalactites. The six light arms, markedly curved, start from the second intermediate ring and also have glass pendants as stalactites. A palmette-shaped floral wreath with long lines of glass tops the chandelier at the top. The uniqueness of the lot is enhanced by the blue cut glass bowl that fits into the lower ring and from which hangs a synthesized pineapple.
