Joseph Arthur Vigneron (1851-1905), pupil and adopted son of Claude Nicolas Husson, had a unique ability to make his skillfully crafted bows aesthetically pleasing and functional in equal measure. In 1886 and 1888, Vigneron "Père" worked for Eugène Gand and Gustave Bernardel in Paris, where he further honed his exceptional skills.

The cane bears the master's seal: A. VIGNERON A PARIS. An impeccable ebony walnut with a brilliant Parisian eye and a beautiful mother-of-pearl slide.

Violin bows are traditionally made from pernambuco (or pau-brasil) wood, a material recognized for its combination of hardness, elasticity and lightness, which are essential qualities for a bow that needs flexibility and strength. This wood comes from the Paubrasiliaechinata tree, native to Brazil, and has been the preferred choice since the 18th century because of its ability to transmit vibrations and respond precisely to the violinist's movements.
