DESCRIPTION
French violin with inside label "Jean Cadroy, ancien élève de l'école polytechnique".
Provenance: Private collection.
With Chinese case of later period, with wear.
Measurements: 59 x 20 x 10 cm (violin); 79 x 26 x 11 cm (case).
Jean Cadroy was a French luthier specialized in violin making. It has rounded shoulders, stylized "f" shaped ears, with volute-shaped finials, "C" shaped recesses and headstock topped by a very fine carved fluted volute.
