DESCRIPTION
ANTHONY REDMILE (England, 1940).
Pair of boxes.
Wood with shell applications.
Signed.
Measurements: 25 x 36 x 20 cm; 24 x 35 x 19 cm.
Pair of boxes in the shape of a duck with a design based on shell appliqués on the body, simulating the plumage of ducks. The beak area is exempt from the shell ornamentation. The upper area of the ducks can be removed so that the piece adds functional value to the design.
Anthony Redmile was one of the leading designers of the late 20th century, his pieces were soon coveted by many collectors and still are, half a century later. He achieved great popularity in the 1960s and 1970s for his extravagant designs. They stood out above all for their use of unusual materials and eccentric interpretation of classic antiques.
