DESCRIPTION
Pair of candlesticks. France, transitional period, ca. 1820.
Gilded bronze.
Measurements: 52 cm.
Pair of French candlesticks from the transition period between Neoclassicism and Romanticism, showing a style typical of the late Empire. The mercury gilded bronze has been worked with high refinement. Each candelabra has five lights. The sinuous arms, chiseled with vegetal sheaths, start with rooted fruits, are completed with scrolls and finished with tulips decorated with foliage. From the base, through the stem, to the bowls, the surface has a high quality workmanship.
