Bird boxes are a constant in the work of Marlon de Azambuja, who has presented several of them in renowned art spaces such as the Tate Modern in London, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the New Museum also in New York or MASP in Sao Paulo. His birdhouses are based on an architectural idea on a habitable scale.
Marlón de Azambuja received his artistic training at the Centro de Arte Contemporânea Edilson Viriato in Curitiba, Brazil. Throughout his career he has exhibited internationally highlighting places such as, Max Estrella Gallery in Madrid, Spain 2014; Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, 2011; Casal Solleric in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, 2010; Luisa Strina Gallery in Sao Paulo, Brazil, 2009; Matadero, Abierto X Obras in Madrid, Spain, 2009. He has also participated in art fairs such as the Havana Biennial, Cuba, 2012; 11th Biennial of Cuenca, Ecuador, 2011; 8th Biennial of Mercosul, Porto Alegre, Brazil, 2011; and 12th Cairo International Biennial in Cairo, Egypt, 2010. Currently some of his works can be seen in the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Parana, the Oscar Niemeyer Museum in Curitiba, Itau Cultural Sao Paulo, Banco Espiritu Santo in Brazil, the Atlantic Center of Modern Art in Gran Canaria, Banco Sabadell, Maria Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation, OTR, Ministry of Culture, and Helga de Alvear in Spain; and the Fondazione Nomas in Rome, Italy.
