DESCRIPTION

After JEAN GARNIER (1853 - 1910).
"Dante's Inferno".
Fountain in patinated bronze.
Measurements: 57 cm. diameter.

In this imposing fountain the author represents the Inferno of Dante, first part of the Divine Comedy, work of Dante Alighieri from the beginning of the 14th century. Its protagonist, Dante, embarks on a journey through the nine circles of Hell, guided by the Roman poet Virgil. Each circle represents a capital sin and its corresponding punishments. As they descend, Dante and Virgil encounter souls tormented by their sins in life, experiencing sufferings that reflect the gravity of their faults. Through this journey, Dante explores themes of sin, guilt, hope and redemption, offering a profound insight into the human condition and the nature of good and evil.
