Devotional image of the Christ of the Sacred Heart made in polychrome stucco, worked in round bulk. Christ is represented in full body, standing, dressed with a simple tunic and a naturalistic draped mantle. His hands are stylized, harmonizing with the slender waist. On the chest stands out the heart typical of this iconography. The nobility of the face stands out especially, serene and idealized. She poses her feet on a cluster of clouds to symbolize her ethereal condition.
The Sacred Heart of Jesus is a late iconography, officially consecrated in 1685 as a symbol of the meeting of Protestantism and Jansenism, of God's love for all men, without exception. The theme will definitively enter Catholic iconography in the 18th century, and it will do so in two plastic forms: as a flaming heart applied externally on the chest of Jesus or as rays of light emanating from an incision practiced on his chest, on the side of the heart.
