DESCRIPTION
ANN VERONICA JANSSENS (Folkestone, United Kingdom, 1956).
"Light, yellow, green", 2005.
750 watt halogen lamp and dichroic color filter.
Measurements: 33 x 22 x 25 cm (lamp); 66 x 13 x 13 x 13 cm (foot); Projection 6m.
Ann Veronica Janssens works on the relationship between light and color, painting without using pictorial matter. The "sculpture" in tender consists of a halogen lamp that covers a surface of six meters when projected. In this way, Janssen takes advantage of immateriality to dye it with color and immerses the viewer in an experience of physical and temporal fragility. His work has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions: in 2020 at the South London Gallery in London (UK) and at the Louisiana Museum in Humlebæk (DK), in 2018 at the De Pont Foundation in Tilburg (NL), at the Kiasma Museum in Helsinki (FL), at the Baltimore Museum of Art (USA), in 2017 at the Kiasma Museum in Helsinki (FL), and at the Baltimore Museum of Art (USA).USA), in 2017 at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Villeurbanne (France), at the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas (USA) in 2016 and at the SMAK in Ghent ( B) in 2015. In 2003 he participated in the exhibition "Aux origines de l'abstraction. 1800-1914" with the proposal Red 106 - Blue 132. In 1999 he represented Belgium at the 45th Venice Biennale with Michel François and his work has been part of many other international biennials such as Manifesta 10, St. Petersburg, UK (2014) ; 18th Biennale of Sydney, Australia (2012); Manifesta 8, Murcia (2011); 5th Seoul International Media Art Biennial, KR (2006); 11th Biennial of Sydney, Australia (1998); 5th International Biennial of Istanbul, TR (1997) and 22nd International Biennial of São Paulo, BR (1994).
