This exceptional fountain by Barovier & Toso is still in working order. It has been entirely made in cut glass with foliated motifs of great aesthetic charge. It consists of a circular base on which rests the shaft of cylindrical format, wider towards the top. On this supports a bowl of wide walls decorated inside by four mermaids in translucent glass. Colorful roses embellish the whole.

Barovier & Toso was formed in 1936 with the merger of two glass factories: Vetreria Artistica Barovier and Ferro Toso. The company was first known as Ferro Toso Vetrerie Artistiche Riunite SA until 1942 and then as Barovier & Toso . Chief designer Ercole Barovier created many well-known designs, including Crepuscolo , Brillantati , Zebrati , Acanto and, of course, the popular ribbed design Cordonato d'Oro , usually made in red glass with gold leaf inclusions. The company still exists today.
