DESCRIPTION

MASSIMO IOSA GHINI (Borgo Tossignano, Bologna, 1959) for Moroso, Italy.
Numero Uno" armchair, 1986.
Chromed steel, wood and upholstered body.
With Moroso plaque.
Measurements: 76 x 66 x 85 cm.

Massimo Iosa Ghini developed a sophisticated style, with aerodynamic and clearly modern lines, as can be seen in this armchair that combines a tubular structure in chromed steel, armrests and backrest in wood, with black leather upholstery. This armchair or poltrona is considered "the number 1 armchair in the Dinamic collection".
Massimo Iosa is considered one of the most prominent designers on the international design scene. He is known for being a pioneer of the Bolidist movement, a style summarized as "a way of narrating the transition from materiality to the drawing of things in which the visual and media aspect prevails over the functional purpose of the object", as well as for his participation in the Memphis group together with Ettore Sottsass and Michael Graves. He studied architecture in Florence and graduated from the Politecnico di Milano. He stood out for his designs with aerodynamic and playful lines very much in line with the Memphis group, which combined shapes and dimensions, thus transcending the limits of design and architecture. In 1990 he founded the firm Iosa Ghini Associati with his wife Milena Mussi, which today operates in Milan, Bologna, Moscow and Miami. Today the firm works for brands such as IBM Italia; Kiko Milano; CMC Group Miami; Seat Pagine Gialle; Capital Group and Alitalia, among many others, as well as the Kröpcke metro station in Hannover (Germany); The Collection shopping mall (Miami); the Ferrari Gallery Museum in Maranello (Modena); the Seat Pagine Gialle headquarters (Turin); the Giorgio Morandi House Museum; the People Mover transport infrastructure project in Bologna; and the IBM Software Executive Briefing Center (Rome). In 2013, the Triennale di Milano dedicated a complete anthology to Iosa Ghini's 30-year career, a show that was revived in 2014 by the Museum of Modern Art of Bologna (MAMbo). His work is currently housed in international collections around the world. She has also received numerous recognitions and awards, including the Roscoe Award (USA); the ADI Compasso D'Oro; the Chicago Athenaeum's Good Design Award; the Roscoe Award; the IAI Green Design Award (China); the If Product Design Award and the Red Dot Award (Germany).
