Designer specialized in the creation of tables, Christian Krekels bases his language on the use of golden tones and fluid naturalistic forms. His designs are a bold example of Belgian design from the 1970s. Here, the engraved brass tabletop with different treatments features dynamic lines that create a floral association. The square tabletop rests on a square agate base.
Christian Krekels trained at the Saint-Luc Arts Institute in Tournai. He initially focused his career in the field of diamonds and precious stones, later turning to sculpture. He worked on figurative and abstract sculptures, as well as artistic coffee tables with characteristic table tops. Krekels works mainly with different metals and, as in this case, he treated the brass tabletop in an incomparable way.
