Sofa model Hydra Castor designed by the Italian architect and designer Luca Scacchetti for the prestigious Poltrona Frau House. It is an elegant and modern design that reflects the aesthetics of the 1990s. The sofa's name refers to the Hydra, a mythical creature with multiple heads, which may be a nod to the modular design and versatility of the sofa. In short, the Hydra Castor sofa is an elegant and functional piece of furniture that embodies Italian design, craftsmanship and know-how.
Luca Scacchetti was born in Milan, where he graduated in Architecture. His first works, dating back to the early 1980s, are renovations and home constructions in Lombardy, Switzerland and Germany, but soon after he also moved to Italy. He is particularly renowned for his numerous interior design projects, both for homes, offices and exhibitions, as well as several competitions for public spaces. However, he was also involved in the design of furniture, decorative objects and fabrics, where his designs for Poltrona Frau stand out.
Poltrona Frau is an Italian furniture manufacturer founded in 1912 by Renzo Frau. The company's name combines "Poltrona", the Italian word for armchair, and "Frau", the surname of its founder. In 1926 it became an official supplier to the Italian royal family, the Savoy dynasty, and by the 1930s it had become an international status symbol. Its business is based on the creation of elegant furniture, inspired by tradition but designed with the future in mind, guaranteeing reliability and quality.
