In these miniature portraits, of which even the Prado Museum safeguards similar copies, the family of Louis XVI is represented, specifically Madame de Lamballe (friend and confidant of Marie Antoinette), Marie Antoinette (wife of Louis XVI), Madame Elisabeth (younger sister of Louis XVI), the Count of Artois (future Charles X of France), Louis XVI himself and the Count of Provence (brother of Louis XVI and future Louis XVIII of France). This set is inspired by portraits of the 18th century. Its creation is understandable because, due to the demand for miniatures after the exhibitions in London, Vienna, Paris, Munich, Amsterdam, Brussels and Stockholm, numerous portraits were made reproducing effigies of illustrious figures of the past.
