DESCRIPTION
Jewelry box; Germany or Austria, XIX century.
Enameled and partially gilded porcelain and brass.
It has Repainting.
Presents numbering on base.
Measurements: 33 x 42 x 26 cm.
Jewelry chest made of gilded and enameled porcelain. Aesthetically the piece stands out for its rococo style. Thus, we see a very dynamic structure and profuse decoration, in which ornamental elements such as leaves, palmettes and flowers are placed. The pictorial decorations of hand-painted porcelain allude to the "locus amoenus", i.e., the right place for love, as we see idyllic landscapes inhabited by couples.
This type of pieces reached great popularity during the 19th century, becoming an object of luxury and social significance, in such a way that their quality and good taste distinguished the taste of their owner.
