Elegant potiche, or lidded vase, of oriental flavor in its form, riddled with variegated floral motifs throughout its cobalt blue tank and delimited by a thick gold perimeter. The snowy body of the porcelain under glass can only be seen on the shoulders of the piece, forming a sort of cross composition when viewed from a zenithal plane.

The German ceramic, porcelain and glassware manufacturer Rosenthal was founded in 1879 in Selb, Bavaria, by Philip Rosenthal (1855-1937), and is still in business today. Its first success in the market took place at the beginning of the 20th century, thanks to its delicate figural statuettes and its table services, of simplified and refined forms, very different from the earlier Art Nouveau pieces. After World War II, the factory completely renewed its repertoire and hired important designers such as Löwy or Wirkkala.
