Vase dated to the Edo period with prismatic body decorated in Europe in the Japanese Kakiemon style, originated in the seventeenth century. In 1659, with the expansion of the export market demand to Europe through the Dutch East India Company (VOC), the style was quickly copied by the new European porcelain factories that appeared in the 18th century, such as Meissen in Germany, Chantilly in France and Chelsea in England.
Originating in Arita, Japan, the factory is still in operation today. It is a style defined by the use of enamel overglaze polychrome glaze with elegant, brightly colored pictorial designs on a milky white porcelain body. This style was established in the 1670s and is known as the classic "Kakiemon style".
For its part, Escalier de Cristal was a French company of high quality bronze decoration that knew how to adapt to both the fashions of the time and Japonisme.
