The yuhuchunping vase is a classic form of East Asian pottery that has been produced for centuries. It is characterized by its rounded body, long slender neck and flared rim. The yuhuchunping vase originated in China during the Tang dynasty and spread to Korea and Japan during the Goryeo dynasty and Kamakura period. The piece made of blue porcelain features figurative decoration known as "one hundred children", symbolizing fertility and the desire to possess a large offspring. It also alludes to the decoration of the "one hundred children", representing the children of Zhou Wenwang, founder of the Zhou dynasty, who, according to legend, had ninety-nine children by his twenty-four wives and adopted an orphan child to complete the count to one hundred.
