DESCRIPTION

Jar (thap). Vietnam, Dong Son culture, 3rd-1st centuries B.C.
Bronze.
It has small chips on the lip.
Measurements: 21,5 cm.

Thap jar decorated with bas-reliefs with friezes of ovals and bangs. It has two small handles on the sides.

The Dong Son culture was a Bronze Age culture in ancient Vietnam centered in the Red River Valley of northern Vietnam from 1000 B.C. to the 1st century A.D. Its influence spread to other parts of Southeast Asia, including the maritime Southeast, from about 1000 B.C. to 1 B.C. The Dong people were skilled bronze casters with the lost-wax casting method and carving.
