DESCRIPTION
Pair of friezes; India, XX century.
Carved stone with traces of polychrome.
They present faults in the carving.
Measurements: 20 x 20 x 10 cm (x2).
Pair of friezes made in carved stone that still conserve part of the polychrome. In both cases the main figure is an elephant.
Initially, the development of these works was dedicated to the royal court, which used the art to elaborate portraits, events and scenes of the life of the court, scenes of wild life and hunting, as well as illustrations of battles, with which they adorned the architecture, so the images are framed by richly decorated strips as if they were vignettes.
