DESCRIPTION
Vase. Japan, s.XX.
Bronze with cloisonné enamels.
Measurements: 30 x 21 x 21 cm.
Vase decorated with cloisonné enamels, arranged in alternating bands with motifs recessed in the bronze surface. The bands of enamels represent respectively snakes and birds of paradise resolved in a synthetic form, intricate in its design with abstract motifs of bright colors. In the band of the lower body the enamel takes the form of fretwork and abstract motifs of organic inspiration.
Also called "alveolado" or "tabicado", the "cloisonné" enamel is a technique that consists of depositing the vitreous paste of the enamel in recessed compartments or formed by metal sheets that, in relief, compose the silhouette of the design.
