An adze is a tool used to cut wood. The one we now present is distinguished by having a slightly curved wooden handle embellished with indentations on the head and base. The cutting part of the adze is distinguished by its sharp blades.

The Tchokwe are an ethnic group of Central Africa that currently inhabits Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia and Namibia. They need tools for the cultivation of cassava, cassava, yams, groundnuts, tobacco and hemp, as well as for harvesting maize for brewing beer. They raise a variety of domestic livestock. Agricultural work is carried out almost exclusively by women.
